Schools of Life

Recognizing, educating, and promoting the benefits of good character to students, parents, and communities.

In honor of Karen Ann Rettig & Dr. Robert Stephen Vandrak "Schools of Life"

We have built a school that was dedicated in Karen and Dr. Bob's name in January, 2017.

Since then, we have built 9 more schools surrounding the city of Siem Reap, a town in Northwestern Cambodia.

Each new school only cost $10,000 to build, supply, equip with clean water, and staff.

To sustain and continue educating at the "Schools of Life" the ongoing associated cost is only $175 per month after the first year.

Please consider being our partner both financially and prayerfully.

We have opened doors to help locals get educated.

As the schools grow the needs grow. We strive to help these individuals have a better life.

We regularly send fresh water and supplies.

Together we will make a much needed positive impact for our world's most needy children!

Keep watching for more pictures of the great work including the floating villages, expansions and even the smiles of the soccer team.

Thank You,
Heidi Vandrak/David Rettig

Mission

It is our goal to share the legacy of both Karen's and Bob's stories in a manner that will educate and provide substance for the children attending our schools.

Most likely if you are reading this story, you have relatively easy access to clean drinking water. Whether this encompasses walking a few steps to the nearest sink, or opening the fridge, water is taken for granted by those living in the developed world. Unfortunately this is not the case for an approximate 783 million people worldwide. Here are a few eye opening statistics. For those of you who take your water supply for granted like most have been doing, I have listed a few of these stats below.

Every year 3.4 million people die from water related disease.

The lack of clean water is responsible for killing children at a rate equal to approximately six jumbo jets crashing per day.

The total number of people lacking access to clean water equates to approximately 2.5 times that of the population of the United States.

Ravaged by war and ungodly dictatorship of the Khmer Rouge and their leader Pol Pot exterminated nearly 25% of the country's population leaving millions of orphans and a country in distress.

As Cambodia continues to recover we are partnering with Legacy Inc. to build 10 English speaking schools in memory of both Karen and Bob that will also serve as Christian churches.

If a Cambodian child comes to Jesus and learns to speak English they have an immediate advantage to break out of the poverty that plagues their culture as well as to share in the eternal glory God has provided through His son.
